Goes 3-for-4 and Relievers Shut Down LMU Feb. 14, 2001 Fullerton, Calif. Brett Kay went 3-for-4 and drove in the go-ahead run and three Titan relievers allowed no runs on just two hits over the final 4.1 innings as the 19th-ranked Cal State Fullerton baseball team beat Loyola Marymount, 5-3, in a nonconference baseball game at Goodwin Field Wednesday night. The Titans, who have won three of their last four, improved to 4-5, while the Lions fell to 7-3. Loyola Marymount grabbed a 2-0 lead in the top of the first when C.J. Wilson blasted a two-run homer off Fullerton starter Wes Littleton. The Titans scored one in the first on a single by Kyle Boyer, then took a 3-2 lead in the second when David Bacani and Kay had RBI singles. The Lions evened the score, 3-3, in the top of the fifth when Jack Brooks scored on a sacrifice fly by Robert Hirsh. Jason Corapci reached on an error by Lions third baseman Tommy Perez to lead off the bottom of the fifth, moved to second on a wild pitch and advanced to third when catcher Kris Zacutos throw sailed into center field. Corpaci came home to score on Kays sharp single to center field. Fullerton added an insurance run in the eighth, when pinch-hitter Shawn Norris led off with a double and scored on a ground ball by Corapci. Littleton gave up three runs on three hits and two walks in 4.2 innings. After that, three Titan relievers combined to allow no runs on just two hits and no walks over the final 4.1 innings. Travis Esquibel (1-0) who retired all four batters he faced in middle relief, earned the win and Chad Cordero, who retired all five batters that he faced, was credited with his first save. Lions reliever Brian Felten (0-1) suffered the loss. The Titans will host Brigham Young for a three game series that begins Thursday at 7 p.m. Box score
