EL CAMINO COLLEGE (JC): Played two seasons for Coach Nick Van Lue at El Camino College in Torrance, Calif. • Earned honorable mention All-South Coast Conference honors as a sophomore, when he batted .337 (31-for-92) in 31 games.

EASTSIDE CATHOLIC H.S.: Was a three-year letterman for Coach Gary Seefreid at Eastside Catholic H.S. in Bellevue, Wash. • Earned honorable mention All-Metro League honors as a second baseman his senior season, when he batted .330 with six doubles and 10 stolen bases • Also a standout golfer, Alley finished second in the state regional golf tournament and was a state finalist.

PERSONAL: Born on Dec. 26, 1978, in Pasadena, Calif. • Parents are John and Carla Alley • Has one older brother (Jason) • Is a big Seattle Mariners fan and lists his most memorable sports thrill as watching Edgar Martinez double in Ken Griffey, Jr. with the winning run in a 1995 American League playoff game • Served as a batboy for the Mariners in 1997 • Says his junior college coach, Greg Bergeron, provided him “with a work ethic and inspiration to learn more about the game • Enjoys fishing for small mouth bass • Favorites are George Strait (musical artist), New York steaks (food) and “Predator” (movie).
