Baseball Players
TITANS ’00: Came on late for the Titans and was batting .400 as late as May 2 • All 77 of his at-bats came against right-handers • Appeared in 34 games and started in 19 (eight in the outfield, 11 at DH), but 15 of those starts came over the final 28 games • Batted .408 and had a slugging percentage of .612 in Big West Conference action • Hit in eight straight games and 13 of 14 over one stretch • Hit his only home run of the season at Cal Poly on April 21 • Was one of the team’s top pinch-hitters, batting .417 (5-for-12) with a double, triple and five RBI • Was available only as a pinch-hitter during the final week of the regular season after tearing his biceps at Pacific • The injury limited his NCAA Regional activity to just one game. MENDOCINO COLLEGE (JC): Outstanding outfielder and hitter for Coach Kevin Smallcomb at Mendocino College in Ukiah, Calif. • Earned California Community College All-American honors as a sophomore in 1999, when he batted .423 with 13 home runs and 55 RBI • Had an .804 slugging percentage • Named to the All-Northern California team as a freshman, when he batted .369 with four home runs, 13 doubles, 36 RBI and 29 stolen bases • Was a two-time first-team All-Bay Valley Conference (West) pick. UKIAH H.S.: Baseball and football star at Ukiah H.S. in Ukiah, Calif. • Earned three varsity letters in each sport • As a senior, batted .418 with six home runs, 18 RBI and 12 stolen bases for Coach Dennis Busse • Earned first-team all-conference honors • Was an honor roll student.
