the Titans’ plans early, but was called upon when a rash of injuries
hit the pitching staff • Made all four of his appearances in the final
three weeks and left quite an impression • Posted a 2.11 ERA, allowed
just 16 hits and seven walks and struck out 17 in 21.1 innings • Did
not allow a hit in his first 9.0 innings • Pitched 6.1 innings of hitless
relief in his collegiate debut against USC on May 10 • Picked up his
only win against Cal State Northridge on May 16, when he allowed no earned
runs on just two hits and struck out eight in 5.0 innings • Was tagged
with a no-decision against Long Beach State on May 21, but was in line for
the win before a late 49er rally • Also had a no-decision in the Titans’
6-4 win over Virginia Tech in the NCAA Regionals, when he started and allowed
five runs (three earned) on six hits in 5.0 innings.

powerhouse • Earned first-team All-CIF, All-Orange County and All-South
Coast League honors for Coach Bob Ickes as a senior • Posted a 12-1
record with a 1.92 ERA over 91 innings, striking out 93 and walking only
27 • As a junior, threw four consecutive one-hitters and finished with
a 9-2 record, earning league MVP honors in addition to second-team all-county
and first-team All-CIF billing • Selected second-team all-league as
a sophomore, when he was 9-0 with a 2.63 ERA • Finished his Mater Dei
