Munoz Paces Blue Team to 12-0 Family Fun Day Win
Oct. 27, 2001 – Fullerton, Calif.

Titan newcomer David Munoz went 3-for-5 with two RBI and three runs to lead the Titan blue squad to a 12-0 win over the Titan white team in the annual Family Fun Day intrasquad scrimmage on Saturday afternoon.

Munoz, a senior shortstop who transferred from nearby Biola University, had a pair of singles and a triple and also stole a base. Returning players Chris Stringfellow, Jason Corapci, Mike Martinez and P.J. Pilittere each had a pair of hits for the Blue squad, which collected 14 on the afternoon.

The Blue's pitching trio of sophomore Wes Littleton, junior Jeff Housman and sophomore Darric Merrell allowed just five hits and retired the last nine batters of the game.

Jordan DeJong started for White and was roughed up in his four innings of work. Travis Esquibel came on and retired the first eight batters he faced before allowing four runs in the seventh. Chad Cordero, a freshman All-American last season, pitched the eighth and ninth innings and allowed just one hit while striking out four.

The scrimmage concluded the two-week fall practice session for the Titans. Cal State Fullerton hosts an alumni game on Jan. 26 and opens the 2002 season at Stanford on Feb. 1.
