Littleton Picks up Big West Honors for Second Time
Apr. 8, 2002 – Fullerton, Calif.

Cal State Fullerton sophomore righthander Wes Littleton was named Big West Pitcher of the Week Monday, marking the second time in three weeks he has earned the award from the Irvine-based conference office.

Littleton (Oceanside, Calif.) allowed just a run on five hits in 8.1 innings en route to his sixth victory, a 3-1 win over Sacramento State on Friday. Littleton walked just one and struck out six while lowering his conference-best ERA to 1.25.

Littleton allowed a second-inning home run to Danny Gill – the first HR he had allowed since the first inning of the season (a span of 64-plus innings) – and scattered four hits through the first three innings, but did not allow another ball out of the infield until Chris Kinsey flied out to center field to open the ninth. After the next batter, Joe Evans, singled to left field, Chad Cordero was summoned to pick up the final two outs.

Littleton, who is 6-2 on the year, was named the conference Co-Pitcher of the Week on March 25 after pitching a five-hit shutout against Long Beach State.

Littleton and the Titans will face USC in a nonconference game at Goodwin Field on Tuesday before heading to Stockton, Calif. for a three-game conference series with Pacific this weekend.
