Cal State Fullerton outfielder Chris Stringfellow has been named the Big
West Conference Player of the Week, the Irvine-based conference office
announced today.
Stringfellow, a senior out of Vista, Calif. batted .500 (6-for-12) in
the UC Irvine series last weekend with a team-high nine RBI. Stringfellow
hit for the cycle on the weekend while slugging 1.000 and scoring four
runs.
He went 4-for-5 in the series opener with a double, two runs and two RBI.
He had a two-run triple in the second inning of Saturday's game which
gave the Titans their only lead of the game. But he saved the best for
last, blasting a first-inning grand slam (the first slam by a Titan in
more than two years) and driving in a career-high five runs in Sunday's
12-5 win.
The Titans will travel to Pepperdine for a 3 p.m. game on Tuesday before
hosting UC Riverside in a Big West Conference weekend series.
