TITANS ’01: Appeared in 27 games and started 13 (but none after April 7) • Batted .220 with a homer and four RBI • Had just five at-bats over the Titans’ final 34 games and did not have a hit in those at-bats • After going 0-for-2 vs. Stanford in his collegiate debut, he put together a seven-game hitting streak • Hit his first and only home run (a three-run shot) in support of Kirk Saarloos’ near perfect game vs. BYU on Feb. 17 • Had his lone multi-hit game at Baylor on Feb. 11 • Had his first career hit – a double – to lead off the top of the ninth in a tie game at USC on Feb. 6 • Struck out 21 times in his 50 at-bats • His only appearance at the College World Series came in the ninth inning vs. Tulane, when he entered as a pinch-runner and scored on a double.

TEMECULA VALLEY H.S.:
Was a teammate of Darric Merrell at Temecula Valley H.S., where he played for Coach Rich Emard • Earned four letters while helping his teams to a combined 83-29 record over the four-year stretch • Led the Golden Bears to a 26-4 overall record and the CIF Division I semifinals his senior year • A two-time first-team All-CIF selection • Named MVP of the Sunbelt League his junior year, when he batted .565 with seven home runs, 33 RBI and 15 stolen bases • Batted .515 his senior year with 11 home runs, 38 RBI and 27 stolen bases • Tied a school-record with 50 hits • Went 4-for-4 with four home runs (all more than 400 feet) against Hawthorne in a first-round CIF playoff game his senior season • Finished with 23 career homers • Also played football and basketball.

PERSONAL: Born on Nov. 23, 1981, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa • Parents are Donald and Tamara Boyer • Has two younger brothers (Caleb and Carmen) and an older sister (Alicia) • Major is undecided • Was selected by the Chicago White Sox in the 24th round of the 2000 MLB draft • Chose Cal State Fullerton over Pepperdine, UC Riverside and South Carolina because of its outstanding baseball program • Is a diabetic • Most interesting part-time employment was installing fire alarms • If he’s not in the majors in 10 years, he hopes to be a firefighter • Says he’s better than anyone at bowling....but he’s never been able to bowl a 300 • Favorites...Cribs (TV show), The Goonies (movie), Chris Farley (actor).
