COLLEGE OF THE SEQUOIAS: Turned in a fabulous sophomore season for College of the Sequoias in Visalia, Calif., where he played for Jody Allen • Helped the Giants, who were ranked No. 1 in Northern California for most of the season, to a 36-11 record and a Central Valley Conference championship • Posted a 6-1 record and 2.19 ERA • Struck out 76 and walked only 19 in 90.1 innings, while throwing four complete games • His only loss came to Feather River in the Northern California Regionals, when he pitched a complete game and allowed four unearned runs in a 4-2 loss • As a freshman, Housman was 2-2 with a 7.30 ERA in 40.2 innings of work.

GOLDEN WEST H.S.:
Had a great senior season for Coach Tom Buckley at Golden West H.S. in Visalia, Calif. • Was a teammate of current Titan Shane Costa • Helped Golden West to a 25-8 record and a runner-up finish in the CIF playoffs • Earned first-team All-West Yosemite League and first-team all-area recognition after posting an 11-4 record and 3.27 ERA • Threw seven complete games, including a no-hitter against Hanford, when he fanned 12 batters • Another memorable game came against Central H.S. in the CIF semifinals, when he pitched a four-hitter and protected a 2-1 lead by striking out the No. 3 and 4 hitters with the bases loaded in the seventh inning • Started the East-West All-Star game • Was on the Dean’s and President’s Lists all four years and was also a recipient of an American Legion scholarship.

PERSONAL: Born on Aug. 4, 1981, in Visalia, Calif. • Parents are Jeff and Marilyn Housman • Has three older brothers (Aaron, Andy and Justin) • Majoring in liberal studies • Biggest sports thrill to date was signing with Cal State Fullerton • Says his father has had the greatest influence on his life • Claims the most interesting fact about himself is that he was born at home • Would like to meet Jesus • Says he’ll be sure to bring a little bit of dirt from the Goodwin Field mound if the Titans go to Omaha • If he won the lottery, he’d immediately buy another lottery ticket • Craziest superstition is to never go to the bathroom during a game • Favorites...Los Angeles Dodgers (team), Billy Wagner (player), whatever his mom cooks (food), Katie Holmes (actress), 8 Seconds (movie).
