CSF to Host Baseball Regional for Third Time May 25, 2003 Fullerton, Calif. For the third time in four years, Cal State Fullerton will host an
NCAA baseball regional, the NCAA announced Sunday afternoon. The complete
64-team field and eight national seeds will be announced on ESPN2 on Monday
at 9:30 a.m. PDT.
Other schools hosting regionals are Arizona State, Auburn, Florida State,
Georgia Tech, Long Beach State, LSU, Miami, Mississippi State, Nebraska,
North Carolina State, Rice, Southern Mississippi, Stanford, Texas and
Texas A&M.
Regional competition at Goodwin Field will begin Friday at 3 p.m. The
host Titans will play their first game at 7 p.m. on Friday. Game action
in the four-team double elimination format continues on Saturday and concludes
on Sunday. The winner advances to a best-of-three super regional with
a College World Series berth on the line.
The Titans, who finished the regular season with a 43-13 record, finished
second at the 2000 regional at Goodwin Field, but won a regional and super
regional at home in 2001 en route to the College World Series.
