HART H.S.:
Was a two-year letterman at Hart H.S. in Newhall, Calif., where he was a first baseman and catcher for Coach Jim Ozella • Batted .365 with six homers and 23 RBI as a senior • Hit .392 with six homers his junior year, when Hart posted a 26-2 record and advanced to the second round of CIF play • As a junior, he twice hit a pair of homers in a game against Burroughs (Burbank) H.S. and, as a senior, he hit the game-winning home run in his final league game.

PERSONAL: Born on Nov. 22, 1984, in Panorama City, Calif. • Parents are James and Patti Curtis • Has three older sisters (Kim, Melissa and Jennifer) • Majoring in business • Says the coolest place on campus is study hall • Says the most impressive thing about Coach Horton is “he knows every little thing about the game” • If he won the lottery, he’d buy Coach Horton’s house • Would like to work for the FBI (both of his parents work for the L.A. County Sheriff) if a career in baseball doesn’t pan out • Wants to see LSU added to Fullerton’s schedule • Full name is John Matthew Curtis • Favorites...Los Angeles Dodgers (team), Mike Piazza (player), sushi (food)
