Covina (Calif.) H.S., where he pitched and played shortstop for Coaches
Charlie Beal and Ryan Merrill • Cleaned up his senior year, when he
garnered co-Valle Vista League MVP honors in addition to first-team All-San
Gabriel Valley and first-team All-CIF honors • Batted .421 with six
homers and 21 RBI while posting a 6-1 record and 2.54 ERA on the mound •
Helped Covina to a 19-5 record, a league championship and a CIF quarterfinal
appearance • Also a first-team all-league selection as a sophomore
