Suzuki, Windsor Among Six Titans Picked in Draft June 8, 2004 Fullerton, Calif.
Cal State Fullerton junior catcher Kurt Suzuki and senior righthander
Jason Windsor might be battery mates next year after all.
Both players were selected by Oakland on the first day of the Major League
Baseball First-Year Player Draft Monday. Suzuki was taken in the second
round (67th overall) and Windsor was selected in the third round (97th
overall).
Since Major League Baseball went to just one phase of the draft in 1987,
only 12 Titans have been selected in the first three rounds.
Another Fullerton duo might also wind up as teammates. Titan righthander
Mike Martinez was taken in the eighth round by the Yankees and catcher/first
baseman P.J. Pilittere was picked in the 13th round by the Yankees.
Junior third baseman Ronnie Prettyman was selected on the draft's second
day, going to Milwaukee in the 28th round. Junior DH Felipe Garcia was
picked in the 48th round by Boston.
