Titans Wrap up Kia Bash with 10-4 Win over USC

Clark Hardman and Kurt Suzuki each had three hits and Lauren Gagnier and Mike Martinez combined to throw 5.1 scoreless innings as 13th-ranked Cal State Fullerton beat USC, 10-4, in the Kia Bash at Goodwin Field Sunday night.

The Titans, who captured second place in the tourney, improved to 8-8 and 5-1 at home. USC dropped to 3-7.

Gagnier, who allowed two hits in 1.2 innings, improved to 2-1 and Martinez allowed just two hits in 3.2 innings to earn his first career save. USC's Clayton Wentworth took the loss to fall to 0-1.

Fullerton grabbed a 2-0 lead in the third on RBI-singles by Hardman and Ronnie Prettyman, but USC got to Titan starter Ryan Schreppel for four runs in the fourth.

The Titans came right back in the bottom of the inning to take a 5-4 lead. Prettyman had another RBI-single and Kurt Suzuki doubled to left field to drive in the tying and go-ahead runs.

Prettyman, Sergio Pedroza and Blake Davis each had a pair of hits for the Titans, who banged out 15 on the night. USC got a pair of hits from Daniel Perales, who was named the Kia Bash co-Most Outstanding Player.
