Felipe Garcia was 4-for-5 with a homer and four RBI as Cal State Fullerton
routed Pacific, 13-5, in a Big West Conference game in Stockton Saturday
afternoon to finish a three-game sweep of the Tigers.
Fullerton, 19-16 overall and 3-0 in conference play, is three games over
.500 for the first time this season and has won four games in a row for
the first time. Pacific is 15-18 and 0-3. The Titans outscored Pacific,
42-6, in the three games and batted .418 on the weekend.
Vinnie Pestano (2-2) retired all eight batters he faced to to earn the
win. Mike Martinez, making his first start of the season, allowed four
runs (three earned) in 5.2 innings.
For the the first time in the series, the Titans had to come from behind,
scoring twice in the seventh inning to tie the game, 5-5, and four times
in each of the eighth and ninth innings.
Danny Dorn drove in a run with a bases-loaded walk in the seventh and
Garcia followed with a run-scoring single to tie the game. Ronnie Prettyman's
fielder's choice in the eighth gave the Titans a 6-5 lead. Dorn added
an RBI-single and Garcia broke it open with a two-run double.
Clark Hardman was 4-for-5 and had 10 hits in the Titans' three games over
the weekend. The true freshman is batting .458 in 27 games this season.
