Ricky Romero hurled three perfect innings and struck out six and combined
with three other Cal State Fullerton pitchers to post a 6-0 shutout of
Pepperdine in a nonconference game at Goodwin Field Wednesday night.
The Titans, who have won three in a row for the second time this season,
improved to 15-13. Pepperdine fell to 8-14.
Romero, Nolan Bruyninckx, Jason Windsor and Mike Martinez combined to
scatter just four hits, strike out 14 and walk none. Bruyninckx was credited
with the win to improve to 1-0.
Fullerton broke open a pitchers' duel with a pair of runs in the fifth.
Clark Hardman drew a bases-loaded walk for the Titans' first run and Ronnie
Prettyman drove in a run with a groundout to first base.
The Titans made it a 3-0 game on Kurt Suzuki's RBI-double in the seventh
and broke the game open with a three-run eighth.
Fullerton has the weekend off before traveling to USC next Wednesday.
