Danny Dorn tripled twice and drove in six runs and Kurt Suzuki and Felipe
Garcia each had four hits as fourth-ranked Cal State Fullerton completed
a three-game sweep of UNLV with a 14-6 win at Goodwin Field on Sunday
afternoon.
The Titans (3-3) improved to 15-2 against UNLV (0-3) under Coach George
Horton.
Fullerton scored runs in six of its eight at-bats and got things going
with a four-run second. Dorn's two-run triple erased a 1-0 UNLV lead and
the Titans never looked back. Dorn's six RBI were two shy of his career
high of eight vs. LMU last year.
Suzuki had hits in his only four at-bats (he was lifted in the sixth)
to set a career high. He also scored three runs and drove in two to lift
his season RBI total to a team-high nine.
Freshman Lauren Gagnier (1-1) allowed just a run on four hits in five
innings to notch his first career victory. Preseason All-American Jason
Windsor made his 2003 debut after a bout with shoulder stiffness sidelined
him for the first five games. He allowed an unearned run on three hits
and struck out four in 2.2 innings.
UNLV starer Koji Pupo (0-1) took the loss.
Fullerton will travel to No. 16 Arizona for a three-game series next weekend.
