LOYOLA MARYMOUNT:
Played three years for coach Frank Cruz at Loyola Marymount • Played in 40 games as a freshman in 2001, starting 29 times (16 at shortstop, nine at third base and four at second base) • Batted .253 with nine RBI • Went 2-for-3 with a career-high three RBI vs. Cal State Fullerton on April 17, 2001 • Batted .074 in limited action (28 games and five starts) in 2002 • Granted a medical redshirt in 2003 after suffering a shoulder injury.

ARCADIA H.S.: Was a three-year letterman in baseball and two-year letter winner in football • Earned three-time All-Pacific League and All-San Gabriel Valley honors and was an All-CIF selection both his junior and senior years • Combined on a no-hitter versus Hoover H.S. his senior year • Also garnered All-San Gabriel Valley honors in football.

: Born on October 14, 1981, in Fullerton, Calif. • Parents are Richard and Judith Carroll • Has two younger brothers (Erik and Patrick) • Says throwing five touchdown passes in a high school game is his greatest sports thrill • Chose to attend Fullerton because of the rich baseball history • Once held a job as a gardener in Kansas over a summer • Full name is Mark Anthony Carroll • Favorites…Los Angeles Dodgers (team), Scarface (movie), Mike Epps (actor), Wild Boys (TV show)
