CYPRESS J.C.: Played two years under coach Scott Pickler at Cypress College Named a 2003 California JC All-American catcher after helping Cypress to the state championship (California JCs do not compete nationally) Batted .392 and was tied for sixth in the state with 15 home runs Tied for 17th statewide with 50 RBI Banged out 15 doubles as well to bring his slugging percentage up to .709, which ranked among the top 20 in the state Named MVP of the state championship tournament after cracking two homers in a 13-3 win over Saddleback in the final Overall, he batted .541 with five home runs and 16 RBI in nine playoff games Batted .306 with two homers and 13 RBI in 34 games as a freshman.
