Brett Pill went 4-for-4 including an RBI double, and
extended his hitting streak to 11 games as Cal State Fullerton (9-2) defeated
Nevada (6-4) 5-0 in Game Two of the Kia Baseball Bash at Goodwin Field
Saturday afternoon.
The game between the Titans and Wolf Pack was originally scheduled for
Friday night but was moved to Saturday morning due to rain.
Ryan Schreppel improved to 2-0 on the season with another strong outing,
striking out 8 en route to the Titans’ third shutout of the year.
Schreppel went eight complete innings of scoreless ball, dropping his
team-leading ERA to 1.29. Schreppel gave way to Wes Roemer in the ninth
took care of the three batters he faced.
Nevada starter Tim Schoeninger pitched well but did not get any support.
He went six innings allowing 10 Titan hits and struck out four. He falls
to 2-2.
Fullerton’s three runs in the fourth inning and two more in the
top of the seventh to took care of the Wolf Pack in their first of two
games on Saturday.
The Titans used a Felipe Garcia RBI-single and a two-run single by Bobby
Andrews to jump on top of the Wolf Pack 3-0 in the fourth inning. Then
added two more in the top of the seventh with back-to-back RBI-doubles
by Pedroza and Pill.
Pedroza added three hits to the Titans 15 total hits on the day, with
Justin Turner and John Curtis both adding two of their own.
Cal State Fullerton will come back and play their regularly scheduled
game with Oklahoma at 7 p.m. with Ricky Romero (3-0) scheduled to face
Steven Guerra (2-1).
