Fullerton One of Four in the West to Host Regional May 29, 2005 Fullerton, Calif.
Cal State Fullerton was selected as one of 15 universities picked to host
a 2005 NCAA baseball regional as announced by the NCAA on Sunday afternoon.
The Titans, who are hosting for the fifth time since the NCAA went to
the regional format, will play host to three other teams playing a double-elimination
format. All 16 regionals are scheduled to be conducted from Friday, June
3, to Monday, June 6.
The winners will advance on to the super regional round with the final
eight teams standing moving on to the College World Series in Omaha, Neb.,
which begings on Friday, June 17, at Rosenblatt Stadium.
The remaining at-large teams, top-eight national seeds, first-round regional
pairings and site assignments will be announced at 10:30 a.m. Central
time, Monday, May 30, during a live, half-hour program on ESPN. The committee
will set the entire 64-team bracket through both the super regionals and
the first round of the Men's College World Series, and will not reseed
the field after play begins. Selection of the eight super regional hosts
will be announced on the ESPN Bottom Line Tuesday, June 7 at 11 a.m. Central
time.
