Boise State swept the vault and scored more consistently throughout the
meet Friday night to beat Cal State Fullerton, 194.550-193.325, in a Western
Gymnastics Conference meet in Boise.
The Broncos scored 48.875 on the vault and took the top three places.
Their lowest scoring event was the beam where they posted a 48.125.
Fullerton scored only 47.400 on bars, which negated a 49.100 on floor
exercise.
Senior Kelly Mathiasen won the all-around with a score of 39.350, matching
the third best score in Fullerton history. Her 9.900 tied for first on
uneven parallel bars and her 9.900 tied for first on beam. Kristen Weigandt
scored 9.925 to tie for first on floor exercise.
Fullerton's next competition is Friday, Feb. 28, at 7 p.m. vs. Southern
Utah in Titan Gym.
