Titans Seeded Sixth at Oregon State Regional Mar. 22, 2003 Indianapolis, Indiana
Cal State Fullerton's women's gymnastics team today received one of 36
berths to the 2004 NCAA Championships.
The Titans are the No. 6 seed at the West Regional at Oregon State in
Corvallis on Apr. 3. Alabama is the No. 1 seed followed by the host Beavers,
Oklahoma, California and Boise State.
The berths are based on a complicated regional qualifying score formula.
Fullerton qualified for the fourth year in a row and the 19th time in
the 23-year history of NCAA women's gymnastics.
The top two teams and the top two all-around competitors who are not on
an advancing team from each regional will receive automatic berths into
the national championships to be held at UCLA on Apr. 15-17. In addition,
the event winners at the regional championships will advance in that event
if they are not part of a qualifying team or one of the all-around qualifiers.
On Friday, the Titans placed fourth at the Western Gymnastics Confrence
meet in Boise, Idaho. Boise State was the winner folowed by Southern Utah
and Utah State, the latter of which did not make the NCAA regional field.
