Cal State Fullerton freshman Brittany Evans took home the individual title
on beam while senior Latoya Milburn and Nicole Lim finished in a three-way
tie for first on floor exercise, but it wasn't enough Friday night as
Oregon State defeated Cal State Fullerton in women's gymnastics in Corvallis,
Ore.
The Titans finished with a 191.850 and fell to 0-2 overall on the season.
No. 20 Oregon State finished with a 195.075 to win the dual meet.
OSU took a 1.5-point lead after the first rotation and extended its lead
to three points after two events as the Titans had to count one of two
8.925 scores on bars.
Cal State Fullerton rebounded to post a high-score of 49.050 on floor
exercise led by Milburn and Lim's 9.85 scores and three more which topped
9.75. However, not even Evans' event-winning score of 9.80 on beam could
bring the Titans back in the final rotation as the Beavers scored 48.525
and 48.650 on the final two apparatus.
Junior Kristy Parker also placed against the Beavers, finishing tied for
second on vault with a 9.75. Junior Annette Reyes finished fourth in the
all-around with a career-high 38.525.
Cal State Fullerton returns to action next Friday (Jan. 23) with a home
meet against Western Gymnastics Conference rival Boise State at 7 p.m.
at Titan Gym.
