Utah State Wins Conference Gymnastics Title Mar. 25, 2005 Fullerton, Calif.
Utah State scored 48.875 on floor exercise to break
away from Southern Utah in the final event and win the 2005 Western Gymnastics
Conference Championship Friday night at Cal State Fullerton with a score
of 195.150.
The Aggies were only 25 hundredths of a point ahead
of the Thunderbirds entering the final rotation, but Southern Utah scored
only 48.100 on balance beam and settled for second place with a total
of 194.350.
Boise State had the best event of anyone all night,
finishing with a 49.050 on vault to most ahead of Cal State Fullerton
and take third place with a 193.700 to the Titans' 193.550.
Boise State's Lindsay Ward, a sophomore from Las Vegas,
NV, won the all-around title with a score of 39.325 and she later was
selected Gymnast of the Year in a vote of the four head coaches. Utah
State's Ray Corn was chosen coach of the year. Team Standings
