Hoffman Selected to Compete at NCAA Regionals March 29, 2005 Fullerton, Calif.
Cal State Fullerton junior Brittany Hoffman has been selected as an individual
all-around competitor at the 2005 NCAA regional gymnastics championships
in Seattle, Wash., on April 9.
Six teams, five all-around competitors (who are not on a qualifying team)
and one individual event specialist per event [who has a minimum qualifying
score (RQS) of 9.4] were named to each of the six regions.
The top two teams and the top two all-around competitors (who are not
on an advancing team) from each regional will receive an automatic berth
to the national championships in Auburn, Alabama, April 21-23, hosted
by Auburn University.
In addition, the event winners at the regional championships will advance
to the national championships (in that event only) if they are not part
of a qualifying team or the all-around qualifiers.
Hoffman (Tucson, Ariz.) finished fourth in the all-around at the recently-completed
Western Gymnastics Conference Championships with a career-high 39.000,
which included a fourth-place finish in the vault with a career high-tying
9.825.
She won the all-around competition in a quadrangular meet against San
Jose State, Bowling Green, and SUNY-Cortland on March 6 with a score of
38.850. Hoffman has also finished second in the all-around four times
this season and third on two occassions.
