Four JC Transfers Sign with Titans
May 8, 2002 – Fullerton, Calif.

Four junior college players have signed national letters of intent to continue their basketball careers at Cal State Fullerton.

Franck Essis of Chaffey College in Rancho Cucamonga, Jamal Forcheney of West Hills JC in Coalinga, Bron Groomes of San Bernardino Valley College and Zakee Smith of Panola JC in Carthage, Texas, join Coach Donny Daniels' program for the 2002-03 season.

Essis is a 6-foot-4 wing player who sat our last season. Originally from Brooklyn, NY, Essis averaged nearly 20 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists per game at Chaffey.

Forcheney is a 6-foot-7 power forward who also is originally from Brooklyn. He averaged 14 points and 9 rebounds per game and shot 67 per cent from the floor.

Groomes is a 6-foot-7 forward who was first-team All-Foothill Conference. He is a product of Boys and Girls High School in Brooklyn.

Smith is a 6-foot point guard who was among the nation's leaders with 14 assists per game. The Philadelphia native also averaged 13 points.

Coach Daniels expects to sign a few more players.
