Fullerton's Offense Shut Down in 1-0 Loss to Aztecs Oct. 6, 2002 San Diego, Calif.
Sophomore defender Drew Picone knocked in the only
goal of the match as San Diego State shut out Cal State Fullerton, 1-0,
in San Diego Sunday afternoon.
The Titans fell to 3-5-1 with the loss while the Aztecs upped their record
to 3-6-1.
Blake Perry and Raul Bautista were credited with assists on Picone's goal,
which came off a corner kick at the 15:09 mark.
The Aztecs and Titans battled for possession of the ball for the remainder
of the game. Both teams played aggressively, with SDSU racking up 31 fouls
and CSF tallying 26, for a total of 57 fouls in the match.
Although the Titans took nine more shots than the Aztecs, SDSU was able
to capitalize on its shots on goal.
Fullerton will open Big West Conference play at UC Santa Barbara on Saturday
at 7 p.m.
