Mustangs Make Early Goals Stand in 2-0 Win Oct. 4, 2003 – San Luis Obispo, Calif.
Scott Gellman and Justin Woodward each scored in the first six minutes
to lead Cal Poly to a 2-0 win over Cal State Fullerton in a Big West Conference
men's soccer match in San Luis Obispo Saturday.
The Mustangs improved to 3-3-1 overall and 1-1-0 in conference play, while
the Titans dropped to 4-5-1 overall and 0-1-0 in the Big West.
Just two minutes into the game, Gellman scored on a one-timer off a pass
across the Titans' goal box from Brian Reed. The Mustangs struck again
in the 6th minute as Brad Hallock connected with Woodward for a goal from
15 yards out.
The Mustangs had not defeated the Titans since Sept. 29, 1999.
