Inalpulat Reaches Second Round at ITA Regionals Oct. 28, 2002 – Fullerton, Calif.
Cal State Fullerton freshman Ruya Inalpulat (Ankara,
Turkey) reached the second round of the ITA Omni West Regional Championships
at San Diego State this past weekend, eventually falling to UCLA's Sara
Walker, the tournament's No. 2 seed, in straight sets, 6-0, 6-2.
Inalpulat advanced to the second round of the main draw by defeating UNLV's
Tracie Chong, 6-1, 6-2, in her opening match.
In doubles action, Inalpulat and partner Ioana Sisoe fell in the first
round to Southern California's Melissa Esmero and Bernadette Bayani, 8-2.
The tournament served as the finale to the 2002 fall season for the Titans,
who will resume action on Saturday, Jan. 25, with a home match vs. Northern
Arizona at 11 a.m. at the Titan Courts.
