Visiting UC Riverside rebounded from a poor showing
in doubles to win four of six in singles play to edge Cal State Fullerton,
4-3, in a Big West Conference women's tennis match on Wednesday afternoon
at the Titan Tennis Courts in Fullerton, Calif.
Cal State Fullerton fell to 4-18 overall and 0-7 in the Big West and has
lost its last eight consecutive matches.
The Titans took the doubles point, winning at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles
by large margins. However, it was singles play where the Highlanders would
stage their comeback.
UCR posted victories at the Nos. 1, 2, 3, and 5 positions to clinch the
match. Each singles match was decided in straight sets with Fullerton's
Ioana Sisoe and Caroline Freeman posting the Titans' only victories on
the day.
Cal State Fullerton closes out the 2003 regular season on Friday (April
11) against Long Beach State at 1 p.m. at the Titan Tennis Courts.
