The Cal State Fullerton women's tennis team will host players from nine
other schools -- including national powerhouses USC, UCLA and Pepperdine
-- in the 2003 Cal State Fullerton Fall Intercollegiate Tournament this
weekend at the Titan Tennis Courts on campus.
Singles and doubles players from Southern Utah, UC Irvine, Long Beach
State, UC Riverside, UC Santa Barbara and Cal State Northridge will also
compete.
The main draw of 62 singles players will begin play on Friday morning
(Oct. 10) at 9 a.m., while the main doubles draw (30 teams) will begin
play at approximately 2 p.m. Play will continue on Saturday at 9 a.m.
with the third and quarterfinal rounds.
Times for the semifinals and championships of both singles and doubles
will be held on Sunday at a time to be announced.
Natalie Braverman of Pepperdine is the tournament's top-seeded singles
player and will pair with teammate Merve Asimgil to make up the tournament's
top-seeded doubles team. Cal State Fullerton sophomore Ruya Inapulat is
the tournament's No. 8 seed.
Results for Friday's singles matches will be posted as soon as possible
on Friday afternoon with the balance of the results to posted posted at
the end of the day. Results for Saturday's and Sunday's matches will be
posted at the end of play.
