Titans Open 2004 Season Against Cal Poly Jan. 15, 2004 Fullerton, Calif.
The 2004 Cal State Fullerton women's tennis team opens its regular season
this weekend as the Titans host Big West Conference rival Cal Poly on
Saturday (Jan. 17) at 11 a.m. at the Titan Tennis Courts on campus.
Fullerton is coming off of a 4-20 season where it finished 0-9 against
Big West Conference opposition. The Titans return six players from last
season's team and welcome five newcomers to the roster in 2004.
Last season, Cal State Fullerton dropped two matches to the Mustangs,
falling 6-1 to Cal Poly at home and 6-0 in San Luis Obispo.
The Titans have lost 10 of their last 11, snapping their
losing streak with a 5-2 win over Point Loma earlier in the fall season.
Fullerton is facing an even longer drought in Big West competition, losing
14 of its last 15 matches, with the lone win coming in a 4-3 victory over
UC Riverside to close out the 2002 season.
Cal State Fullerton is led by junior Caroline Freeman and senior Ioana
Sisoe, who each posted 10 wins overall last season. Freeman (10-15 overall)
was 8-14 in dual matches was Sisoe (10-18 overall) was 8-16.
Sunday's match (Jan. 18) with Idaho State has been postponed and rescheduled
for Feb. 7.
