Visiting UC Irvine swept all nine matches on the afternoon to hand host
Cal State Fullerton its fourth consecutive loss with a 7-0 victory on
Wednesday afternoon at the Titan Tennis Courts.
The Titans fell to 11-10 overall on the season, 1-6 in the Big West Conference,
with one match remaining in the 2004 regular season.
The Anteaters swept all three doubles matches, the closest of which came
at No. 2 doubles where UCI's Anna Bentzer and Jayme Hu defeated Fullerton's
Carla Rocha and Mai-Ly Tran, 9-8. The other two doubles matches were decided
by 8-5 scores.
In singles, UC Irvine won five of the six in straight sets, including
a 6-0, 6-0, victory by Tiffany Chang over Gina Le at No. 2. Ioana Sisoe
had the best match of the day for the Titans, taking Hui Leow to a third
set before falling.
Cal State Fullerton closes out its regular season schedule on Friday,
April 16, at 1:30 p.m. as the Titans host Hawaii at the Titan Tennis Courts.
