UC Santa Barbara's Marielle Gruenig took home the singles championship
and teamed with partner Charlotte Scatliffe to claim the doubles title
at the 2004 Cal State Fullerton Fall Intercollegiate Tennis Tournament
on Sunday afternoon.
Gruenig, the tournament's No. 2 seed, defeated unseeded teammate Chelsea
Glynn, 6-3, 6-4, in the championship match, spoiling Glynn's run to the
title that saw her upset two seeded players.
Gruenig and Scatliffe then defeated the UC Irvine duo of Izabela Mijic
and Hui Leow, 9-8, in the main draw doubles championship.
On the consolation side, UC Riverside's Michelle Beyronneau defeated UCI's
Leow, 8-4, to win the singles title and the Anteater duo of Inna Agababian
and Jessica Broadfoot defeated Cal State Fullerton's Ioana Sisoe and Caroline
Freeman, 8-6, to claim the crown in consolation doubles action.
