Titans Drop Heartbreaker to LMU, 4-3 Feb. 24, 2005 Fullerton, Calif.
The doubles point proved pivotal on Thursday afternoon as host
Cal State Fullerton was edged out by visiting Loyola Marymount, 4-3, in
a non-conference women's tennis match.
The Titans fell to 0-6 overall while the Lions earned their first win
of the year and improved to 1-4.
LMU started by taking the doubles point thanks to a 10-8 victory at No.
2 doubles by Erin Ivey and Kimi Kaloi to take a 1-0 lead overall in the
match.
The two teams then split the singles matches, with five of them ending
in straight sets, and Ivey pulling out a three-set marathon over Fullerton's
Nicole Arias, 6-3, 1-6, 6-3, en route to the victory.
Ruya Inalpulat, Gina Le, and Caroline Freeman each posted singles wins
for the Titans while Carla Rocha and Mai-Ly Tran earned the win at No.
1 doubles for the Titans.
