Long Beach State lost only one set in rolling to a 7-0 Big
West Conference women’s tennis victory Thursday at Cal State Fullerton.
The 49ers improved to 12-9 overall and 5-2 in Big West Conference matches.
Fullerton saw its 2-match winning streak snapped and fell to 6-14, 0-7.
Fullerton’s Gina Le scored the only Titan breakthrough at No. 2
singles, winning the second set, 6-1. However, Steph Bengson won the tie-breaker,
10-5.
In a “family feud,” Long Beach sophomore Sandra Rocha beat
her senior sister, Carla, of Fullerton in both No. 3 singles (6-1, 6-1)
and No. 1 doubles (8-4), teaming with Nicole Bouffler in doubles over
Carla and My-Lai Tran.
Both teams are idle until the Big West Championships which begin Apr.21
in Indian Wells.
