Doty Sets Two School Records in Fresno MAR. 30, 2002 Fresno, Calif.
Anna Doty set school records in the long jump and triple jump and the
Titan men finished second and third in the long jump to highlight Cal
State Fullerton's efforts at the Cal-Nevada Championships at Fresno State.
Doty bettered her own marks by going 19-5 1/4 in the long jump and 41
5 3/4 in the triple jump while finishing third in both events.
Brandon Campbell and freshman Aaron Williams each posted NCAA provisional
qualifying marks as they went 25 4 1/2 and 25-2 3/4, respectively. The
Titan men placed fifth among 22 schools with 60 points. UCLA won the competition
with 204. The Titan women scored 26 points to place ninth among 25 schools.
The winner was Cal State Northridge with 129.50 points.
Other Titan highlights were:
--the men's two relays teams each finished second -- the 4x100 team clocking
40.93 and the 4x400 team running 3:10.77
--Derek Brown placing second in the men's 400 at 48.04
--Bryce Lighthall running second in the 5,000 meters at 15:01.44
--Edmund Pula set a school record in the hammer throw at 183-0 while placing
ninth
--Ryan Gill was third in the javelin at 196-1
--Lakeysha McClenton ran fourth in the women's 800 meters at 2:14.14
The Titans next compete in the Big West Challenge at UC Irvine on Saturday.
