Lanaro Goes Even Higher in Boise

Junior Giovanni Lanaro extended his one-week old Cal State Fullerton men's pole vault record Saturday when he won the Western Indoor Classic at a height of 17 feet, 6 1/4 inches. Runnerup McKay Womack (17 feet even) of Idaho State was the only one of 11 other vaulters to clear 15 feet.

In women's competition, the best performances by Titans were Pam Roque's third-place finish in the mile and a third by Joi Webber in the triple jump. Roque ran 5:22.27 to trail only Kelly Squibb (5:10.96) of the Greater Boise Running Club and Robin Wemple (5:16.45) of Boise State. Webber went 36 feet, 3 1/2 inches to trail only Tracy Sprague of Bronco TC (39-2 1/4) and Qadriyyah Abdullah of Cal (37-10 1/2). The Titans got fourth-place finishes in the pole vault where Jennifer Clarke cleared 12 feet and in the long jump where Tosha Thomas went 17 feet, 11 inches.
