Jumpers Again Pace Titans Mar. 30, 2003 Stanford, Calif.
The long and triple jumpers again paced Cal State Fullerton's track and
field efforts, this time at the Stanford Invitational on Friday and Saturday.
Mychael Westervelt had the best day among the Titan jumpers, taking second
in the "B" women's triple jump with a leap of 38 feet, 3/4 inches.
She also was eighth in the "B" long jump at 18 feet, half inch.
Tosha thomas took third in the "B" long jump at 18 feet, 3 3/4
inches. At 18 -3 1/4 in fifth place was teammate Lacey Welborn and Kelly
Figueira was ninth at 17-11 1/2. Joi Webber was fifth in the triple jump
at 37-6.
Jenifer Clarke took fifth in the "B" pole vault at 11 feet,
5 1/4 inches.
Giovanni Lanaro tied for seventh in a strong pole vault field at 17 feet,
6 1/2 inches. The event was won by Toby Stevenson, a Stanford assistant
coach who competed unattached and cleared 18 feet, 10 1/4 inches. He is
a three-time All-American and the 1998 NCAA outdoor champion.
