Field Events Best for Titans at UCLA
Mar. 1, 2003 – Westwood, Calif.


Giovanni Lanaro won the pole vault again and his Titan teammates in field events particularly the men's triple jump fared better than the runners at a four-team track and field meet Saturday at UCLA.

Lanaro cleared 17-feet, 6 1/2 inches to beat Yoo Kim of UCLA by more than a foot. Joe Thomas (50 feet, 4 3/4 inches), Ian Jennings (49 feet, 8 1/4 inches) and Cody Jones (46 feet, 8 inches) finished 1-2-3 ahead of two Bruins jumpers.

On the women's side, Mary Bohanon was second in the hammer, Jennifer Clarke was third in the pole vault and Kelly Figueria and Tosha Thomas finished third and fourth in the long jump.

In team scoring, UCLA easily won both competitions. In men's events it was UCLA 237, Cal Poly SLO 206, Cal State Fullerton 92 and Cal State L.A. 39. On the women's side it was UCLA 253, Cal Poly SLO 131, Cal State Fullerton 130 and Cal State L.A. 66.
