Women 2nd, Men 4th in Exciting Big West Cup Apr. 5, 2003 – Irvine, Calif.
The Titan women won both relays and Fred Williams won the 100 and took
second in the 200 Saturday to highlight Cal State Fullerton's efforts
at an exciting and very competitive Big West Challenge Cup at UC Irvine.
Only one point separated the second from fourth-place teams in the men's
competition and only five points separated the top three women's teams.
Long Beach State won both the men's and women's competition with Fullerton's
men fourth and the women second, just 3.5 points behind the 49ers in their
best showing in a multiple-team scoring event in recent memory.
Other Titan winners were Orinda Talton in the women's 200, Mychael Westervelt
in the women's long jump, Kandace Wilson in the women's 400, Giovanni
Lanaro in the pole vault, Cody Jones in the long jump, Joe Thomas in the
men's triple jump and the men's 4x100 relay team.
