Quartet of Titans at NCAA Regional Meet May 25, 2004– Northridge, CA
Four Titans will represent Cal State Fullerton at the NCAA regional track
and field meet this weekend at Cal State Northridge, where the top five
finishers in each event qualify for the national finals in Austin, Texas,
June 9-12, along with top-ranked national contenders.
Pole vaulter Giovanni Lanaro already has qualified by virtue of his No.
2 national ranking. He competes Saturday beginning at 12:30 p.m. Needing
to place in the top five are long jumper Aaron Williams (Friday at 5 p.m.),
triple jumper Joe Thomas (Saturday at 3:30 p.m.) and pole vaulter Jennifer
Clarke (Friday at 2 p.m.). Williams is ranked No. 8 in the region, Thomas
is No. 9 and Clarke is No. 28.
This is the second year of regional competition. In the past, only qualifying
marks from throughout the season were considered. This meet allows competitors
to rise to the occasion with a championship performance..
