Field Performers Shine for Titans in Irvine
May 2, 2004– Irvine, CA

Second-place showings by Giovanni Lanaro in the elite men's pole vault and Joe Thomas in the men's triple jump highlighted Cal State Fullerton's performance Sunday at the Steve Scott Invitational at UC Irvine.

Lanaro matched the winning height of 18 feet, one-half inch by Scot Slover of High Performance but lost out to fewer misses. Thomas jumped 49 feet, 5 1/2 inches.

Other top performances were turned in by: Aaron Williams third in the men's long jump at 24 feet, 6 1/4 inches; Lacey Welborn, third in the wome's triple jump at 39 feet, 1/4 inch; Evan Geisert, third in the me's 3,000 meter steeplechase in 9:27.59; Danielle Hernandez, fifth in the wome's steeplechase at 11:41.10; and Lakeysha McClenton, sixth in the womens 800 meters in 2:12.00.

Fullerton will split its squad next week between Occidental and the Northridge Open, a substitute for the Modesto Relays.
