State Swamps Cal State Fullerton, 91-55 Dec. 19, 2001 Fort Collins, Colo. Box Score No. 16 Colorado State had six players in double-figures and shot 50 percent from the floor for the game to help lead the host Rams to a, 91-55, victory over visiting Cal State Fullerton on Wednesday night at Moby Arena in front of 1,923 fans in Fort Collins, CO. Cal State Fullerton fell to 2-6 overall on the year while Colorado State improved to 9-1 overall. The Titans were led by sophomore center Rochelle Ortega, who notched her fourth double-digit offensive performance in the last five games with 10 points, and senior guard Chante Gifford, who also hit for 10 points on the night. Katie McCluskey and Tamara Quinn led Fullerton on the boards with four. Colorado State was paced offensively by a pair of players with double-doubles. Angie Gorton scored 17 points and grabbed 12 rebounds while Shannon Strecker added 15 points and 13 rebounds. Lisa Narkiewicz came off the bench to score a game-high 18 points and grab six rebounds off the bench for the Rams. Cal State Fullerton was dominated on the boards by the taller Colorado State squad, 54-31. It was the most rebounds allowed by theTitans this season since UNLV grabbed 46 in the season opener on Nov. 16 in Las Vegas, Nev. The Titans were also guilty of 22 fouls on the night to the Rams 10 while both teams committed 19 turnovers for the game. The Titans trailed by as many as 20 points in the first half, but pulled to within nine points at the 7:29 mark. That would be theclosest Fullerton would come the entire game as Colorado State led for all but 1:40 of the game after the Titans made the first bucket of the contest to go up 2-0. Cal State Fullerton returns to action on Friday night (Dec.21) in Colorado Springs, CO as the Titans take on Air Force at 7 p.m. local time.
