Women's Basketball Players
THIS SEASON: A sharp-shooting guard who plays suffocating defense, Gifford will give the Titans another pair of quick hands in the backcourt in 2001 2000-01: Appeared in 15 games for the Titans after transferring from Los Angeles Valley College averaged 7.8 ppg and 1.5 rpg while shooting .262 from the field and .833 (5-for-6) from the free throw line scored a career-best 16 points in the Titans' lone victory of the season at Idaho (2/4) scored in double-figures three times, including a 12-point effort at Boise State (2/2) and a 10-point effort against the Broncos at home (3/1) notched at least two steals on five different occasions. LOS ANGELES VALLEY COLLEGE: Spent two years at LAVC under head coach John Taylor in her sophomore year, averaged 14.0 ppg, 1.5 rpg, 3.0 spg and 4.0 apg for the Lions named team MVP and Most Improved Player for the 1999-00 season highlights include scoring 27 points in one game and scoring a triple-double with 18 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists. HAMILTON HS: Played three years of varsity basketball earned a gaggle of honors, including: all-city, all-state, and Most Valuable Player helped the Yankees to the 3A City title in 1996-97. PERSONAL: Full name is Chante Tikia Gifford born June 13, 1979, in Boston, MA Gifford is a communications major at Cal State Fullerton and hopes to play professional basketball after graduation lists her hobbies as playing basketball, eating and watching television chose to transfer to Cal State Fullerton over Cal State Northridge participated in the "Say No Classic" put on by the University of Southern California for two months during the summer of 2000.
