Titans Ink Two to Early Letters of Intent Dec. 14, 2004 Fullerton, Calif.
Cal State Fullerton Head Coach Dr. Maryalyce Jeremiah announced Tuesday
that Daviyonne Weathersby and Jessica Kaller have signed National Letters
of Intent to play basketball at the university beginning with the 2005-06
season.
“We are very pleased with the the two early signees for Titan Basketball,”
Jeremiah said. “Both of these athletes should help us significantly
grow the Titan Women’s program.”
Weathersby, a 5-2 point guard from Santa Clarita, Calif., is currently
in her senior season at Valencia HS and has earned All-Foothill League
laurels in her first three prep seasons, including first-team honors as
a junior. Last season, Weathersby averaged 12.2 ppg and 4.7 rpg while
averaging better than three steals and assists per game.
“Daviyonne is a strong, athletic point guard,” Jeremiah said.
“She has great leaping ability and her speed, quickness, and love
for the game should add excitement and depth to that position. Learning
under (current Titans) Audrey Taylor and India McDaniel will be an added
plus for the timing of her signing.”
Kaller, a 5-11 guard/forward from Temecula, Calif., is currently in her
senior season at Temecula Valley HS where she averaged 13 ppg, 8 rpg,
and 6 apg in her junior year en route to All-Southwestern Conference first
team honors. She also earned second team all-league honors as a sophomore.
“Jessica will give us another big sized forward that we need so
badly,” Jeremiah said. “She is a very good shooter but, more
important, she sees the floor as well as any player this size we have
had in a long time. Her love of the game and excitement about being a
Titan is promising and we are looking for Jess to help us right away.”
Cal State Fullerton returns to action this weekend as the Titans travel
south to San Diego State for a 2 p.m. tip-off on Saturday afternoon (Dec.
18) in the final non-conference game of the season for Fullerton. The
contest will be carried live over the Internet at www.TitanSports.org.
