Boise State Handles Titans Jan. 24, 2003 –Boise, ID Boise State had little trouble with the Cal State Fullerton wrestling team on Friday night, winning the first nine matches to post a 32-3 victory over the Titans. Ranked 14th by InterMat and 19th by the National Wrestling Coaches Association, the Broncos improved their overall record for the season to 4-3. Boise State evened its record against Pac-10 Conference opponents this season at 1-1. Cal State Fullerton falls to 7-9 overall, and 2-2 in the Pac-10. All four of Boise State's nationally-ranked (InterMat) wrestlers were victorious. Ben VomBaur, ranked fourth, won his 20th match of the season with an 11-1 win over Robert Valenzuela in the 125-pound match. Eighth ranked Collin Robertson recorded a major decision over Brett Gordon at 149 pounds with a 14-5 win. Gabe Vigil, ranked 10th, came away with another major decision for the Broncos at 141 pounds with an 11-2 win over Juan Mora. Heavyweight Boe Rushton posted Boise State's only technical fall of the evening with a 22-5 win at the 6:34 mark of his match against Tyson Blair. The dual started at the 184-pound weight class with Boise State's Tony D'Amico edging Rowdy Lundegreen, 4-3. Cal State Fullerton came away with its only victory in the final match of the evening as Chris Carlino posted a one point win (4-3) over Pat Owens at 174 pounds. Fullerton hosts only its second match of the year in Titan Gym on Sunday night at 7 p.m. against Portland State in another Pac-10 contest.
