Leonel Sanchez Takes 174 Title at Tourney Jan. 31, 2004 -- San Francisco, Calif.
Leonel Sanchez won the championship at 174 pounds and Dustin Vance
(157) and Landon Seefeldt (197) added second-place finishes Saturday to
lead Cal State Fullerton to a third-place shwoing at the 2004 California
Collegiate Invitational Tournament.
Cal State Bakersfield won the tournament with 122 points. Stanford was
second with 69.5 and the Titans had 64.5. Cal Poly SLO was fourth at 56
and Southern Oregon was fifth at 38 points.
Sanchez won a 7-6 decison over Stanford's Kharbush in the finals. Vance
lost to Bakersfield's Cobb on a 3-1 decison and Seefeldt defaulted to
Monteiro of Bakersfield.
Fullerton also got a third-place showing from Jesse Miramontes at 125
pounds and a fourth-place from Brett Gordon at 149.
The Titans will tangle with Bakersfield again Friday in a dual match in
Titan Gym at 5 p.m. and then host Menlo College at 7 p.m. in the final
home competition of the season.
