Titans Down Gators in First of Two on the Day Jan. 30, 2004 -- San Francisco, Calif.
Cal State Fullerton won six of the 10 bouts on the day to help propel
the Titans to a 25-13 victory over San Francisco State in the first of
two matches scheduled for Fullerton on the day.
The Titans, who are scheduled to meet Pacific-10 Conference rival Stanford
later this evening, improved to 4-10 overall in dual matches this season
and snapped a three-match losing streak. The Gators fell to 2-11 on the
year.
The two teams started at 133 pounds and the Gators came out fighting,
winning the first two bouts via a major decision and a decision to jump
out to a 7-0 lead.
However, that jumpstarted the Titans as they won the next six consecutive
bouts, including a pin by sophomore Shawn Riley and a major decision by
junior Landon Seefeldt, for their 25 points.
San Francisco State battled to win the final two bouts, earning a hard-fought
2-1 win at the heavyweight class and a 3-1 decision in overtime at 125
pounds.
Cal State Fullerton and Stanford are scheduled to wrestle later Friday
evening at 6 p.m.
